The MB Medical Center in Winter Haven, FL is a two-story, 16,000 sq ft healthcare facility serving central Florida. This was completed in 2021 as part of a medical group dedicated to bringing quality care to the community. As a medical center, MB Medical Center embodies key characteristics typical of such facilities. It boasts a dedicated medical staff, including physicians, nurses, specialists, and administrative professionals, trained to offer a wide array of medical services. The facility is outfitted with state-of-the-art medical technologies and equipment, including advanced imaging machines, laboratory facilities, and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Its accessibility ensures that the local community can easily access healthcare services.

Saxum Vineyard Equipment Barn

Saxum Vineyards, located in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles, CA is focused on producing award winning Grenache, Syrah, and Mataro based blends using a sustainable process free of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. In addition to the open-air storage that the barn provides, the primary function is to serve as a framework for the attached photovoltaic roof panel system, which offsets more than 100% of the winery’s power demand (roughly 87,000 kWh per year), furthering its commitment to sustainability.

Liberty University Freedom Tower

The 275-foot tall Freedom Tower serves as a centerpiece of Liberty University’s $1 billion campus rebuild. The 17-story tower and base building, which is home to the Rawlings School of Divinity, features classrooms, office space, conference rooms and an observation deck with spectacular views of the Lynchburg, VA campus. From the lobby, visitors can take one of two elevators up to the top of the tower or can choose to climb the 409 stairs to the top. Additionally, visitors can access rooftop terraces on the 2nd and 3rd floors as well as a large wrap-around plaza and garden pergola on the 4th floor.

WVDP Phase 1A

The West Valley Demonstration Project (WVDP) is a federally controlled, 3,300-acre site located 30 miles south of Buffalo, NY. Originally built for commercial reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel between 1966 and 1972, the facility later became the focus of a large-scale decommissioning effort. In 1980, the WVDP Act, signed by President Jimmy Carter, authorized the U.S. Department of Energy (US-DOE) to oversee the remediation of the site, including the disposal of radioactive waste. Due to the hazardous nature of the materials once processed at WVDP, decommissioning requires a highly controlled and systematic demolition process. Rather than conventional structural demolition, which focuses on rapid teardown, this project demands careful engineering analysis to prevent premature collapse and ensure the safety of workers and the surrounding environment. This unique challenge led American DND to adopt RISA-3D as a critical tool for planning and executing the demolition safely.

Phillips 66 Freeport LPG Export Terminal

The Phillips 66 Freeport LPG Export Terminal, located on the Gulf of Mexico in Freeport, TX is a 100-acre facility used for the export of over 4 million barrels liquefied petroleum gas per year. Due to the facility’s location on the water, the finished modules were shipped in on barges and could therefore be larger than what trucks could typically accommodate.

Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Complex

The Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Complex is a 131,000 sq. ft. complex which houses all aviation mechanics responsible for the maintenance of Huey and Cobra helicopters stationed at Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base as well as space for administrative and training activities. In addition to the main hangar, an administrative building and classroom building are also included within the design. The classroom building includes electronic classrooms, aviation training labs and an auditorium with a seating capacity of 250. Overall the entire project has achieved LEED Gold Certification.

REDDY ICE Condensor Support Structure

The Reddy Ice Condenser Support Structure project, located in Oklahoma City, OK, involved the design and construction of a structural steel support system for a 30+ ton industrial condenser. This condenser plays a crucial role in supplying cooling water for the entire manufacturing operation at the Reddy Ice facility. Given the significant weight and operating requirements of the condenser, the supporting structure required meticulous engineering to meet both performance and tolerance criteria. Dr. Gregory P. Wilson, P.E., of The Wilson Geotechnical Group, LLC, led the structural design effort in collaboration with InnerCool Corp. and Lamar Industrial Contractors, Inc. The team’s goal was to deliver a safe, efficient, and constructible support solution that met stringent deflection limits and complex erection constraints.

Binghamton University Smart Energy Building

The new 105,000 sq-ft Smart Energy Building at Binghamton University is part of a series of laboratory research facilities being built on campus. The $45 million building consists of several separate programmatic spaces including two laboratory “pods”, the atrium that connects them and a rotunda structure that links the building with the Center for Excellence (COE). Overall, the main function includes physics and chemistry research lab spaces with a focus on the development of future energy technologies.

Connecticut Children’s Medical Center

Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, originally built in the early 1990s, was designed with a steel podium capable of supporting future vertical expansion. Three decades later, CannonDesign was tasked with realizing that expansion in a way that responded to contemporary healthcare delivery needs. Instead of the semicircular tower envisioned in the original scheme, the design team reconfigured the addition as a rectilinear, eight-story, 190,000-sq.-ft clinical tower rising above the existing podium and supported in part by new basement-level foundations. The reimagined tower integrates seamlessly with the existing structure while introducing programmatic flexibility for the future. Most notably, the expansion required a series of secondary yet highly visible structural elements—including a pedestrian bridge, entry canopy, and rooftop framing—that together embodied both the symbolic and functional goals of the project.
